McLaren F1 prototype XP4

I photographed this car in the paddock at Silverstone at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting in July 1993.
It's one of five McLaren F1 experimental vehicles and apparently you can recognise it as XP4 because the indicators are different to those of the other four cars, and also (though you can't see it here) there are only two rear lights instead of four. XP4 was used as a test bed for the gearbox.

  1. Hi Dave! I help take care of XP4 and I have actually been trying to track down photos from when the car was this charcoal/greenish color. Would you be able to share your photos with me? They would be strictly for our history file.

    1. You're quite welcome to use my photograph Kalila, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'share' it. This is a link to the photo in my Flickr file and you should be able to download it from there (my email address is keapardave@gmail.com):
