Bentley 4½ litre

This car was one of the competitors at the Aston Martin Owners Club's AMOC Racing meeting at Oulton Park in May 2017 in what the programme of the event called a Pre-War Team Challenge race. 

It's the 1928 4½ litre Bentley of  Guy Northam, although the actual capacity of the engine is 4,398cc. The 4½ litre was produced from 1927 to 1931,  with a supercharged model (popularly known as the Blower Bentley) introduced in 1929.

The Vintage Bentleys website gives the chassis number as RN3042 and the engine number as PM3263.

Cooper T39 Bobtail

I took this photograph in the pit lane during a practice session at the VSCC's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in May 2008.

There's no number 218 listed in the programme of the event, but in the one hour long BRDC Historic Sportscars race, where cars generally have a co-driver, the programme has a Cooper T39 Bobtail number 18 with the drivers shown to be John Clark and 'tba'. I suspect that this is John Clark's Cooper, and that the lady in the cockpit is Emma-Jane Gilbart-Smith who has co-driven with John Clark in other events. I'd be grateful if someone could confirm or correct this for me.

Maserati Sebring

This car was in the area set aside for the Maserati Club at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.

It's a 1964 Maserati Sebring Series I, a car that was introduced in 1962 eventually replacing the 3500 GT which had been in production since 1957. It had the same 3½ litre straight-6 engine, but with fuel injection, and when the Series II car was introduced in 1965 alternative 3.7 litre and 4 litre engines were available.

Hawthorn Memorial & Spanish Trophies Race 2015

The Vintage Sports Car Club's meeting at Oulton Park in July 2015 included the Hawthorn Memorial & Spanish Trophies Race for Pre-1961 Racing Cars and here are some of the cars which took part in that race.

This is the start of the race, viewed from near to Lodge Corner, the last corner on the circuit. The green seating you can see on the left of the photograph is the grandstand at Old Hall Corner - the first corner on the circuit.

The remaining photographs were taken at Lodge Corner, and this is the 4.2 litre 1957 Kurtis Indy-Roadster, entered by Stuart Harper and driven by Frederick Harper, that I featured on 1 December 2014.

This is the 2 litre supercharged 1935 ERA R4A of Nicholas Topliss, and on 3 May 2015 I showed a photograph of this car at Oulton Park in 1987 when it was owned by Sir John Venables-Llewelyn.

Not shown in the programme of the event, but it's the 1,098cc 1959 Formula Junior Gemini Mk2 of Graham Barron.

This is the 1½ litre supercharged 1935 MG Bellevue Special of Thomas Hardman. On 8 October 2015 I showed a photograph of this car (and other MGs) in the paddock at this meeting. Bonhams recorded its history when the car was put up for auction in 2014.

Robert Longdon's 1960 1,098cc Formula Junior Lola Mk2

William Grimshaw's 1,086cc 1959 Formula Junior Moorland Mk2, which I featured with other Formula Junior cars on 26 March 2017.

The 747cc 1932 Austin 7 Special of Christian Pedersen. When I've seen this car previously it was painted green, but now only the bonnet cover remains green.

Matt Ricketts in father Duncan's 1957 Cooper T41. The T41 was Cooper's first step in Formula 2 racing which only two years later led to Jack Brabham winning the World Championship in the 2½ litre Formula 1 Cooper Climax T51. The programme of the event says that Duncan Ricketts' car has an engine capacity of 1,220cc which seems strange as is doesn't fit any racing Formula that I'm familiar with.

King EE V8

On 17 March 2016 I showed a photograph taken at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2007 of a Stanley Steamer that had taken part in an Edwardian Run that had first been held two years earlier to mark the centenary of the first Grand Prix race at Dieppe in 1905. Here's another of the cars that took part in that run in 2007.

I tagged the car as a 1917 King EE V8, but I don't know where I got this information from as there's no details of the cars taking part in the programme of the SeeRed meeting. The only details I can find of the King Motor Car Company is that it was set up in 1911 and the V8 engine, created in 1914, had a capacity of 283 cu in, or 4.6 litres.

Friday's Ferrari

These two cars were displayed at the Footman James Classic Car Show at EventCity, Manchester in September 2017.

2000 Ferrari 360 Modena, introduced in 1999.

2004 Ferrari 360 Spider, introduced in 2000.

The Ferrari 360 replaced the 355, and was in turn succeeded by the 430 in 2004. The 360 Modena and Spider shared the same 3,586cc V8 engine with twin overhead camshafts and five valves per cylinder.

Tyrrell 009

This car contested the Grand Prix Masters F1 Cars 1966-1985 race at the Silverstone Classic meeting in July 2010.

It's the 3 litre V8 Ford Cosworth engined 1979 Tyrrell 009 of Peter Orlando and was driven in the race by Bill Combs. Tyrrell competed with the 009 in whole of the 1979 season and the first two races of the 1980 season, but the best results they could manage were two third places each for Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jarier in the 1979 season.
