1959 MGA

This car competed in the Jack Fairman Cup race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018.
It's David Godwin's MGA, a car that was produced from 1955 to 1962. The MGA had a 4-cylinder inline engine, originally of 1,489cc, increasing in size twice and ending up with the 1,622cc unit of the Mark II. The programme of the event says that David Godwin's car has a 1,654cc engine.

1959 MGA

This was one of the exhibits at the Northern Classic Car Show at Belle Vue, Manchester in September 1983.
It's the 1959 MGA with which Ted Lund competed in the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 1959, 1960 and 1961. In 1959 he was partnered by Colin Escott but retired after 21 hours with a broken gearbox. In 1960 again with co-driver Colin Escott he finished in 12th place and won the under 2 litre class, then for 1961 he had a new co-driver, Bob Olthoff but their race ended after 2 hours with engine problems.

MGA

Here's two cars that I photographed at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in May 2011. Both cars took part in the 'Equipe' GTS Series race.
This is the 1959 MGA Roadster of Nick Wilkins

This is the 1958 MGA Twin Cam of Mark Ellis.

MGs at Oulton Park (3)

On 20 September 2015 I showed some photographs of MGs on the track at the VSCCs Hawthorn Memorial Trophies race meeting at Oulton Park on 18 July 2015. On 8 October 2015 I showed photographs of some of the competitors' MG cars in the paddock at that meeting, and now here are photographs of some of the MGs I saw amongst the spectators' cars at that event. I'm not such an expert that I can distinguish between some models of MG, so I can't positively identify some of these cars. Please let me know if you can identify any that I may have named wrongly.
This appears to be a T-type, probably a TA or TB, but definitely not a TD or TF.
1947 MG TC
1935 MG PA
MG TF
This is probably an MG PA
1935 MG PA Midget
I think this is another MG PA
1933 MG J3
1931 MG C-type Montlhery
MG Magnette ZB

MGs at SSAFA Car Show

Here are photographs of some of the MGs at the SSAFA Car Show at Ewen Fields on 19 Oct 2014.
The MGA was first produced in 1955 and this looks like the 1600 model which was introduced in 1959. The prototype of this car was the EX182 which raced at the Le Mans 24 Hour race in June 1955, and the MGA was introduced on 26 September 1955 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. I remember seeing motoring journalist and BBC commentator John Bolster drive what I thought at the time was one of the EX182 cars into the paddock at the Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park on 24 September 1955, but it may well have been a pre-production MGA.
1974 MG Midget MkIII. The MkIII was produced from 1966 to 1974 and is considered the most desirable of the Midgets. It did not meet US federal safety regulations so was superseded in 1974 by the MG Midget 1500 (the one with the large black plastic bumpers).
This is 'the one with the large black plastic bumpers', a 1976 MG Midget 1500. The MG Midget 1500 was the last of the MG Midgets and production ceased in 1980.
An MGB, and the 'M' in the number plate relates to vehicles registered between 1 Aug 1973 and 31 Jul 1974 which infers that it is a MkIII model, produced between 1972 and 1980.
Over 10 years after production of the MGB ended the car was reincarnated in the form of the MGR V8 using the basic MGB bodyshell with a 3.9 litre version of the aluminium Rover V8 engine. Production ended in 1995 and the car in the photograph is a 1995 model.
This is another 1974 MG Midget MkIII, but this one was built later than the one shown in the earlier photograph as it has the 'N' registration of cars built between 1 Aug 1974 and 31 Jul 1975.
