1930s Cars

Two cars that I photographed in the Vintage Car Park area on the inside of Redgate corner at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in June 2008.
On the left is a 1935 Morris 10/6 Special with Cunard bodywork. Two different types of four-seater tourer bodies were fitted to the 10/6 Special, Morris Motors' version, and one by the Cunard Motor and Carriage Co. Ltd, who fitted a variety of bodies to different Morris models in the 1930s and had provided bodies for a large number of Napier cars in the 1920s. The car on the right is a 1930 Bugatti Type 44 with a 24 valve straight-eight 3 litre engine. The chassis number of this car is 441237.

Bugatti Type 44

This photograph was taken on the Exchange Station car park in June 1990 at the start of the Manchester to Blackpool Veteran and Vintage Car Run organised by the Lancashire Automobile Club.
It's a Bugatti Type 44, chassis number 441131, and the programme of the event had this to say about the car:

128     1929 Bugatti Type 44
            8 cylinder 24 hp
            (David Tonge, Heaton Grange)
One of Ettore Bugatti's more civilised designs,
according to Mr Tonge. It was certainly
immensely smooth, sleek and powerful for its
day.

I've shown two other photographs of Type 44 Bugattis previously, chassis number 44667 (MT 1338) and, oddly enough, chassis number 114431 again, but this time with the registration number 6037 DH.

Bugatti Type 44

I featured the Bugatti Type 44 on 29 September 2014, showing a photograph of one at the start of the 1987 Manchester to Blackpool Veteran & Vintage Car Run. Here now is one which took part in the Concours at the VSCC meeting at Oulton Park in August 1996.
It's a 1929 Bugatti Type 44 Berliner, chassis number 44667

Bugatti Type 44

This is a car pictured on the Exchange Station car park in Manchester before the start of the Silver Jubilee Manchester to Blackpool Veteran & Vintage Car Run in May 1987.
It's a 1929 Bugatti Type 44, and here's what the programme of the event says about it:

                                                                                                               117         1929 Bugatti Type 44
                                                                                                                              Reg: 6037 DH 8 cylinders 17 hp
                                                                                                                              (David F. Tonge, Bolton)
                                                                                                                              This Corsica-bodied 4-seater has a hairy 3-litre
                                                                                                                              engine.
