This car was one of the display exhibits in the paddock at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1997.
It's a replica of a 1934 Bugatti Type 59, constructed in the 1980s. The Type 59 used a modified Type 54 chassis with a straight-eight engine of 3,257cc that was an enlarged version of the Type 57 engine. It was the last of the 1930's Bugatti racing cars, and the next new Bugatti to be seen on a racetrack was the brief appearance of the Type 251 in the French Grand Prix of 1956.
On 4 December 2013 I showed a photograph of this car, and other Bugattis, at Donington Park in 2005.
