The two cars shown here both competed in the MicroProse Spirit of Speed race for Pre-War Sports Cars at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in August 1999.
They are two examples of the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS, and both are 1929 models. UU 9125 is the car of John Guyatt, who partnered Colin Warrington in the race. It is chassis 0312905, which was originally owned by Dr J D Benjafield who is more famous for winning the 1927 Le Mans 24 Hour race with Sammy Davis in a Bentley. UU 79 was entered Mrs Tricia Pilkington and driven in the race by Alex and Erika Pilkington. This car, chassis 0312909, was originally owned by the Hon. Anthony Brunner and is the car in which Boris Ivanowsky won the 1929 Irish Grand Prix at Phoenix Park.
