De Tomaso Pantera

I photographed this car on the stand of the De Tomaso Drivers Club in the G-Mex Exhibition Centre in Manchester at the Northern Classic Car Show in August 1991.
It's a 1980 De Tomaso Pantera. Alejandro de Tomaso started by building a Formula One car which appeared sporadically from 1961 to 1963, and after an unsuccessful attempt to re-enter racing in conjunction with Frank Williams in 1970 he gave up Formula One to concentrate on the road-going models which he had started to manufacture in 1963. The Pantera replaced the Mangusta and was produced from 1971 till 1992.
