Friday's Ferrari

I took this photograph at the Knickerbrook chicane during the Aston Martin GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2017.

It's a 2009 Ferrari F430 Challenge and was driven in the 50 minute long race by Richard Cook and Harvey Stanley. The Ferrari F430 Challenge, which has a 4,308cc V8 engine, replaced the 360 Challenge and was produced from 2007 to 2010, being succeeded by the 458 Challenge.

Friday's Ferrari

Ferrari uses the Corse Clienti Ferrari Racing Days meetings at various circuits to allow a group of specially selected customers to test limited edition cars developed exclusively for the track and to race the latest of the Challenge series of cars providing feedback on the performance of the cars to Corse Clienti engineers, thus helping Ferrari to develop its cars for the future. This is a photograph that I took at the Ferrari Racing Days meeting at Silverstone in September 2017 where various of the Challenge cars were on display in the paddock.

It's a  Ferrari F430 Challenge, which has a 4,308cc V8 engine and was produced from 2007 to 2010. It replaced the 360 Challenge and was succeeded by the 458 Challenge.

I took this photograph at Britten’s chicane during the GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018.

It's a 2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge and was driven by Tony Jones. The car has a 4,308cc V8 engine with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder.

It's a 2007 Ferrari F430 Challenge and was driven in the race by Tony Jones. The car has a 4,308cc V8 engine with twin overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder 2018 and here it’s seen during the race at the Knickerbrook chicane.

This was one of the competitors in the GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018.

It's the Ferrari F430 Challenge of Wayne Marrs being prepared for the early morning qualifying session for the race. This is a track version of the Ferrari F430 intended for the Corse Clienti Challenge series of races, and has a 4,308cc V8 Ferrari F136 E engine.

This was one of the competitors in the GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018.

It's the Ferrari F430 Challenge of Wayne Marrs at Druids Corner during the qualifying session on the morning of the meeting. This is a track version of the Ferrari F430 intended for the Corse Clienti Challenge series of races, and has a 4,308cc V8 Ferrari F136 E engine.

Ferrari Challenge

The Ferrari Challenge series was initiated in 1993 as a result of a number of Ferrari owners expressing a wish to be involved in racing their cars. The Ferrari 348 was the first car to be chosen and modified to make it suitable for track racing, being designated as the Ferrari 348 Challenge model. As new Ferrari models are introduced the car used in the Challenge series is changed every few years. At the Ferrari Racing Days meeting at Silverstone in September 2017 one of each of the five Challenge cars to have competed in the series up to 2017 was on display in the International Paddock.

This is the original Challenge car, the Ferrari 348 Challenge that was used between 1993 and 1995 and has a 3,405cc Ferrari F119 V8 engine.

From 1995 to 2000 the Ferrari F355 Challenge contested the series and is powered by the 3,496cc Ferrari F129 V8 engine.

In 2000 the Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge took over till 2006 and has the 3,596cc F131 V8 engine.

The next car, featuring from 2006 to 2011 was the Ferrari F430 Challenge, and this car has the 4,308cc Ferrari F136E V8 engine.

The car used from 2011 to 2017 is the Ferrari 458 Challenge and this is powered by the 4,497cc Ferrari F136 V8 engine.

I took all these photographs early in the morning after what had been a very chilly night and the windows of all the cars were all still frozen. Since 2017 two further challenge models have been introduced, the Ferrari 488 Challenge and the 488 Challenge Evo.

Three Ferraris at the exit of the Knickerbrook chicane during the 50 minute long GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018.

This is the Ferrari F430 Challenge of Wayne Marrs which isn't listed in the programme of the event and he didn't nominate a co-driver for the race. The Ferrari F430 Challenge has the F136 E Ferrari-Maserati 4,308cc V8 engine.

This car is the 1999 Ferrari 360 driven by Matthew Wilton and John Cowan and is powered by the F131 3,586cc V8 engine.

This is the another Ferrari F430 Challenge, that of Tony Jones, who also did not nominate a co-driver. The Ferrari 430 Challenge was in production from 2007 to 2010.

On 22 June 2018 I showed photographs of the 4,308cc V8 engined Ferrari F430 Challenge of Tony Jones that took part in the GT Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2018. Here are photographs of another Ferrari that competed in that race.

It's another Ferrari F430 Challenge, not listed in the programme but it was driven in the race by Wayne Marrs and is pictured here in the pit garage.
