JBW F1

This car took part in the HGPCA Race for Pre-1966 Grand Prix Cars at the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association's International Historic Grand Prix meeting at Donington Park in May 2004.

It's Marshall Bailey's 1959 JBW F1, a Maserati-engined car built by Brian Naylor's mechanic Fred Wilkinson to enable him to compete in British and International Formula One races. Brian Naylor didn't have much success in World Championship races, entering for six races over three seasons, failing to qualify for the 1960 Monaco Grand Prix, retiring in four other races, and finishing in thirteenth place in the 1960 British Grand Prix. The car derives its name from Naylor's forenames (John Brian) and the W from Fred Wilkinson's surname.

JBW F1

This car took part in the Historic Grand Prix Car Association Race at the VSCC's Boulogne and Hawthorn Trophies Race Meeting at Oulton Park in May 2005.

It's the 1959 JBW F1 car, built by Brian Naylor and his mechanic Fred Wilkinson round a 2½ litre Maserati engine. I saw this car race in the 1959 British Grand Prix at Aintree and once or twice when as a young schoolboy I used to cycle to Brian Naylor's car showroom on Wellington Road South in Stockport to see what cars he had on display there.

It was driven at this Oulton Park meeting by Marshall Bailey.

Maserati 150S

This car was part of a display at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2005.

It's a 1956 Maserati 150S, serial number 1667, and was originally a works race car. It's not listed as taking part in the 1950s sports car race in the programme of the event and I don't recall it as being in the demonstration run by various Ferrari and Maserati cars. I remember that the racing driver Brian Naylor, who lived in Stockport and had a car showroom in Wellington Road South bought one of these cars in 1956. I lived about five miles from Stockport and I recall on more than one occasion riding to Stockport on my bicycle to see the Maserati and other of his race cars on display in the showroom. Brian Naylor's car, incidentally, was one earlier than this car, serial number 1666.
