1962 Aston Martin DB4

This is a photograph that I took at the Historic Sports Car Club’s Spring meeting at Oulton Park in May 1986.
It’s a 1962 Aston Martin DB4 and has a 6-cylinder inline 3,670cc engine. The DB4 was in production from 1958 to 1963 and 1,110 examples of the basic DB4 were built together with 75 DB4 GTs and 19 DB4 GT Zagatos.

1960 Aston Martin DB4

This car took part in the MG Car Club Chapman Warren Classic Road Sports Championship Race and the Post-War Aston Martins Race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1992.
It's the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 of Simon Draper, one of 1,185 that were produced between 1958 and 1963, together with 19 of the DB4GT Zagato models. The body of the DB4 was designed by Carrozzerie Touring of Milan and it had the 6-cylinder inline 3,670cc engine created by Tadek Marek, although according to the programme of the event Simon Draper's car has a 4.2 litre engine.

This is one of the competitors in the MG Car Club/AMOC Thoroughbred & Classic Sports Car Championship Race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1993.
It's the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 of Tony Smith and is pictured at Lodge Corner during the race. The DB4 was produced from 1958 to 1963 and had a 6-cylinder inline 3,670cc engine - though the programme of the event says this car has a 4.2 litre engine.

Aston Martin Owners' Club

This is the start of the Park Place Thoroughbred Sports Championship race at the Aston Martin Owners' Club's meeting at Oulton Park in September 1986.
Leading is the Triumph TR3 of Reg Woodcock with three Aston Martin DB4's in pursuit. There were five green DB4's in the race and three red ones and I can't identify the drivers of the cars pictured. Bringing up the rear is Robin Longdon in Les Leston's famous Lotus Elite 'DAD10', or 'Daddio' as it was affectionally known.

Aston Martin DB4

I took this photograph in the paddock at the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1993.
It's an Aston Martin DB4, but isn't shown in the programme of the event, the only number 29s being an MGB and an HWM Jaguar. The programme shows the registration number of many of the cars, but 46 EMU isn't one of them. The DVLA record doesn't give any results, and the number has more recently been seen on Aston Martin DB3S/9, which was one of the Aston Martin team cars in 1956.

Aston Martin DB4 & DB4 GT

Here are photographs of four Aston Martins taken at the Aston Martin Owners Club Race Meeting at Oulton Park in May 2002, three DB4 models and one DB4 GT.
This is Roy Stephenson's 1960 Aston Martin DB4. The DB4 had a straight-6 DOHC 3,670cc engine producing 240bhp, but the programme of the event shows the engine capacity to be 4,500cc, so it appears to be one of the DB4 Lightweight Competition cars that had their engines enlarged to 4½ litres.

This is the 1960 DB4 of Andy Jenkinson, and is another of the Lightweight Competition cars with a 4½ litre engine.

This car at Lodge Corner during one of the races is the 1959 DB4 of Pete Foster, yet another 4½ litre car, as were most of the DB4s at the meeting.

This is the 1960 DB4 GT of Peter Thornton, and has had its engine uprated to 4.2 litres.

Aston Martin

Here are four cars that took part in the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1993.
This car is shown in the programme of the event as a 1990 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, entered and driven that day by Geoffrey Harris. It would therefore appear to be one of the four Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Sanction II cars built between 1989 and 1991.
Here is John Freeman's 1970 Aston Martin DBS V8. The original DBS produced from 1967 to 1972 used the straight-six engine from the DB6, and the DBS V8 joined it in 1969, remaining in production until 1989, from 1973 known simply as the Aston Martin V8.
This is Simon Draper's 1960 Aston Martin DB4, a car which replaced the DB MkIII and which  preceded the DB5, the famous 'James Bond' car.
Fourways Engineering Ltd's 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, driven by James Taylor. It's possibly a standard DB4 rebuilt with a Zagato style body by Fourways Engineering (see the link to the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Sanction II above).
