1949 AEC Regent III

This is a photograph that I took in Heaton Park, Manchester at the Greater Manchester Transport Society’s Trans Lancs Historic vehicle Rally in September 1988.

It’s not listed in the programme of the event, but it’s a former London Transport 1949 AEC Regent III, Fleet number RT1574.

1950 AEC Regent III

This is one of the vehicles that took part in the Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Rally at Heaton Park, Manchester in September 1990.

It's a 1950 AEC Regent III and the note about the vehicle in the programme of the event reads as follows;

Starting as a Greenline bus in 1950 this bus passed to London Country. London Transport purchased the bus back in 1972 and it was one of the last 13 RT's in service in 1979.

The last closed top survivor of Morecambe’s preselector Regent III’s. Restored to the 1950 Livery featuring the chrome rear bumper.

1955 AEC Regent III

The last lowbridge bus to operate in the fleet. Recently returned to the rally scene after a fifteen year absence.

1951 AEC Regent III

This is a photograph that I took in September 1988 in Heaton Park, Manchester at the Greater Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally.

It's a 1951 AEC Regent III and the programme of the event had this note about the vehicle:

KDT 393 A.E.C. Regent 3, ROE. 1951. Doncaster Corporation.

Entered by A. Peart, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. An experimental vehicle built for Doncaster Corporation, passing to Blue Ensign in 1955, to driver training in 1967 and for preservation in 1971.

This was one of the famous London buses which was allocated to 'Green Line' express services when new. Subsequently relegated to country area services and latterly a red central area bus.'

1950 AEC Regent III

It's not listed in the Programme of the event, but it's a 1950 AEC Regent III that was originally in the fleet of the Halifax Joint Omnibus Committee which was taken over by the West Yorkshire Transport Executive in 1974.

1954 AEC Regent III

This is one of the participants in the Greater Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally in Heaton Park, Manchester in September 1993.

It's a 1954 AEC Regent III that was delivered new to the York Pullman Bus Company in 1954 and withdrawn from service in 1970. After a short period with Terry Robinson it was acquired by Tony Peart in 1971 and it was he who entered the vehicle for this Rally. It was bequeathed to the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society on Tony Peart's death in 2006 and is now at the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum, though not currently on display. A note in the programme of the event reads as follows:

Acquired by present owner for preservation in 1971, following severe damage to roof in gantry accident.

Former Operator - Bradford City Transport. New to Bradford 1952 and one of a batch of 40 similar buses. Withdrawn 1971 and purchased by the owner in 1992.
