This is a photograph I took in 1962 or 1963 from the back seat of a coach going down the M1 to London.
Here's a closer look at the road sign you can see on the left of the photograph.
It's very grainy, but you can see that it's straight ahead to Birmingham whilst the next junction takes you onto the A5 towards Markyate and Whipsnade, which means it's about halfway between Luton and Hemel Hempstead. It was probably a weekday morning and I doubt that you'd be so lucky as to drive down there now and see so little traffic about.
