1960 Leyland Tiger Cub

This was one of the vehicles taking part in the Greater Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally in Heaton Park in September 1990.

It's a 1960 Leyland Tiger Cub, and the programme of the event contained this note about the vehicle:

When it operated for East Yorkshire this coach was named Pocklington Star. It was acquired for preservation in 1982.

Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally

The area of Heaton Park where the participants all gather at the end of the Rally in September each year has a large raised bank from where you can look down on all the vehicles. This is a photograph I took from that bank at the 1995 Rally.

I've been able to identify the five single deck buses, not all of which are listed in the programme of the event.

1958 Leyland Tiger Cub

This coach took part in the Greater Manchester Transport Society's annual Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally in Heaton Park, Manchester in September 1993.

This coach passed to Western National in 1963 on the purchase of Silver Star by Wilts & Dorset and then saw service in Cornwall before being bought for preservation.

1970 Leyland Tiger Cub

This vehicle took part in the Greater Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally at Heaton Park, Manchester in September 1996, though it isn't listed in the programme of the event.

It's a 1970 Leyland Tiger Cub, apparently the last one built, which was operated by the John Fishwick and Company of Leyland, Lancs from new. The 44 seat body was built by local body-builders W H Fowler, a company owned by Fishwicks. In 1978 the vehicle went to Phillips Motor Services of Holywell until 1984, when it was acquired by Eagles and Crawford of Gwernymynydd.

1960 Leyland Tiger Cub

This was one of the entrants in the Greater Manchester Transport Society's Trans Lancs Historic Vehicle Rally at Heaton Park, Manchester in September 1993.

It's a 1960 Leyland Tiger Cub with a Willowbrook DP43F body and was originally owned and operated by the North Western Road Car Company Limited as number 796. In 1972 it passed to the North Western (SELNEC Division) Road Car Company Limited which later became the SELNEC Cheshire Bus Company Limited, later being merged into the SELNEC Passenger Transport Executive. Withdrawn from service in 1973 it was sold into preservation and was exported to the Netherlands in the 1990s, being re-registered BE-21-96, then was purchased by Rexquote later in the decade for heritage bus services, being re-registered as LDB 796. The heritage bus services were later transferred to Quantock Motor Services Limited, a company formed by Rexquote who ran LDB 796 till 2007 when it was purchased by John Edwards.
