At 6.55pm on 8 August 2018 this aircraft flew over Hyde, Cheshire just a few minutes before landing at Manchester Airport.

It's Emirates flight EK19 from Dubai.

It's an Airbus A380 and is the world's largest passenger aircraft.

Emirates currently has 104 of these aircraft, with orders for a further 58.

The registration number of this one is A6-EOY.

There are three daily Emirates flights from Dubai to Manchester, each one using the A380.

I was in Hyde Town centre on 28 November 2017 when the late morning Emirates flight from Dubai passed over just before landing at Manchester Airport.

It's due to land at 11:20am, but it passed overhead at 11:24 so would have landed at Manchester Airport about three minutes later.

It's an Airbus A380-861 and the registration mark is A6-EDL.

The evening Emirates flight EK20 from Manchester to Dubai on 10th June 2015 passing over Hyde at 9.28pm having just taken off from Manchester Airport and catching the light from the setting sun.

The aircraft registration number is A6-EEM

The Emirates airline has three daily services between Dubai and Manchester and has been using an Airbus A380 for one of these since 2010. In February this year the Boeing 777 on the evening flight was also replaced by an Airbus A380. Here are some photographs of the evening flight passing over Hyde just before 7.30pm on 14th April 2015.

Some of the aeroplanes on their way to Manchester Airport in just an hour on the afternoon of 6th August 2014. As usual I have flightradar24.com to thank for the details of all the aircraft and flights.

At 4.02pm this is the Germania flight ST4195 from Rhodes to Manchester. It's a Boeing 737-75B and the registration number is D-AGEP.

4.17pm and this is the Lufthansa flight LH2502 from Munich to Manchester. The registration number of this Airbus A320-214 is D-AIZB.

At 4.48pm Emirates flight EK205 from Milan to New York JFK passed overhead at 34,000 feet (that's almost 6½ miles, or about 10½ kilometres). The flight originally started in Dubai and the aircraft is a Boeing 777-31H(ER), registration number A6-EGD. I used the maximum zoom of 300mm on my camera, and I've cropped the photograph below to show the plane better. The Emirates logo underneath the aircraft is clearly visible (though upside-down in this picture).

Just after the Emirates plane passed overhead, and still at 4.48pm this Pakistan International Airlines flight PK709 from Lahore arrived. As it came over the landing gear was lowered, as you can see from the three photographs I took.

It's a Boeing 777-240ER and the registration number is AP-BHX

Most of the aircraft landing approach from the East so in the afternoon the sun is behind me as I take the photographs, but in the next photograph the plane came from the West and turned into the landing flightpath earlier than usual, so the sun is in the 'wrong' place in the next photograph.

At 4.43pm this is the Brussels Airlines flight SN2177 from Brussels to Manchester. It's an Avro RJ100 and the registration number is OO-DWL.

This Flybe flight BEE 3TW from Belfast to Manchester arrived at 4.58pm and it's an Embraer ERJ170-200STD, registration number G-FBJB.

This plane I noticed on flightradar24.com approaching Manchester Airport from the North and losing height as if to land, but the flight details showed that it was Lufthansa flight LH434 from Munich to Chicago. Looking at the track of the aircraft it had taken off from Munich and headed over the North Sea along the East coast of England, but when it got just about level with Middlesbrough it did a 90 degree turn to the left (or 'to port' I suppose I should say) and headed across the North Yorkshire Moors and thence to Manchester. After the melodrama of the Qatar Airlines plane the day before I half expected this Lufthansa flight to also be escorted by an RAF Typhoon, but that wasn't the case. It came over at 5.06pm, it's an Airbus A340-642X and the registration number is D-AIHP.

United Arab Emirates Airlines

Here's a couple of photographs I took of two aeroplanes on Wednesday last week within a couple of minutes of each other, one landing at, and the other taking off from, Manchester Airport. Aircraft landing at the airport come over our house at about 3,500 feet, and when going to eastern Europe and beyond double back after taking off and pass over at about 10,000 feet.

This is the first photograph, taken at 1:52pm. It's the Etihad Airways flight EY21 from Abu Dhabi and it's a Boeing 777-3FXER, registration A6-ETD.

This is the second photograph, taken at 1:54pm, and it's the Emirates flight EK18 to Dubai. This is an Airbus A380-861, registration A6-EDT.

What struck me about these planes was the similarity of the registration numbers, so much so that I had to check that I'd not written one of them down incorrectly.

Airbus A380

Hyde is about 9 miles North-East of Manchester Airport and is directly under the most frequently used flight path for landing aircraft. Being in the foothills of the Pennines it's a lot higher than the airport and the aircraft are usually relatively low when they pass over the town. They frequently pass right over my house and on a nice sunny day in summer (perhaps I should say THE nice sunny day in summer!) I sometimes sit in the back garden taking photos of the passing planes. The photos below are of the Emirates Airbus A380 which flies in and out of Manchester every day on its way to and from Dubai. They're taken using a 90-300mm zoom lens.
