1934 Maserati 6C-34

This car competed in the Motor Sport HGPCA Pre '52 Grand Prix Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1995.
It's a 1934 Maserati 6C-34 and though the race number isn't visible the only Maserati 6C-34 in the race was that of Ernst Schuster. It has a 3,724cc 6-cylinder inline engine and 6 of these cars were produced between 1933 and 1935.

1956 Jaguar D-Type

I took this photograph at Luffield Corner during the HGPCA Sports Car Race at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.

Leading are two former Ecurie Ecosse 1956 Jaguar D-Types, Frank Sytner driving Sir Anthony Bamford's car and John Harper driving that of Robert Brooks. Both cars have the 3,781cc straight-6 engine and are the cars that finished in second and first places respectively in the 1957 Le Mans 24 Hour race, Sytner's being chassis XKD603 and Harper's XKD606. Behind those two cars is the 1960 ex-Camoradi Maserati T61 of Lindsay Owen-Jones with a 2,890cc straight-4 engine. In the background approaching Priory Corner is Willie Green in Pete Waterman's 1958 Ferrari 250TR, chassis 0742TR.

1949 Alta Jaguar

This was one of the competitors in the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association Sports Car Race at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.
It's the 1949 Alta Jaguar of David Clark, and is an Alta Chassis powered by what the programme of the event says is a 3,400cc Jaguar engine. I can't find out much about the car, but it was possibly at one time owned by George Abecassis who, together with John Heath, assisted in the development of the post-war Alta GP car before they left to concentrate on their own HWM project. The car behind the Alta is the 1956 Jaguar D-Type of Robert Brooks which was driven in the same race by John Harper.

Lotus 15

I took this photograph at the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1993.
It's Robert Brooks' 1959 1,960cc Lotus 15, a development of the smaller Lotus Eleven and designed to accommodate engines up to 2½ litres rather than the 1½ litres of the earlier car. It was produced from 1958 to 1960 but wasn't successful in endurance races, failing to finish the Le Mans 24 Hour race in both 1958 and 1959.

Friday's Ferrari

On 16 October 2015 I showed a couple of photographs of a Ferrari that took part in the Historic Car Championship Race at the Aston Martin Owners Club Autumn Historic Car Races at Oulton Park in September 1992. Here's two more photographs of the same car at that meeting.
It's Robert Brooks' 1954 Ferrari 750 Monza, the winner of the 1954 Tourist Trophy race at Dundrod, and was driven at this meeting by Tony Dron.
Its serial number is 0440MD

Friday's Ferrari

This is one of two Ferrari 750 Monzas that competed in the Historic Car Championship Race at the Aston Martin Owners Club Autumn Historic Car Races at Oulton Park in September 1992.
This car is serial number 0440MD and is the first Ferrari 750 Monza to be built. It was raced by Scuderia Ferrari in 1954 and is the car with which Mike Hawthorn and Maurice Trintignant won the 1954 Tourist Trophy race at Dundrod in Northern Ireland.
It was entered in the Oulton Park race by Robert Brooks and driven by Tony Dron.

I showed some photographs of the other Ferrari 750 Monza that took part in this race on 20 March 2015.

Friday's Ferrari

This is a group of cars I photographed in the paddock at Silverstone in July 1995 at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting preparing to join the circuit for the morning practice session.
They're going to take part in the practice for the Louis Vuitton '50s Sports Car Race and are being led out by the 1956 Ferrari 860 Monza (serial number 0602M) of Fritz Grashie. This is the car that finished in third place in the 1956 Mille Miglia driven by Luigi Musso, and finished second in the Nürburgring 1000km race the same year driven by Juan Manuel Fangio and Eugenio Castelotti.

You can see the race numbers of two other cars, number 40 being the 1959 Lotus 15 of Robert Brooks and 37 the 1956 Aston Martin DB3S of Dudley and Sally Mason-Styrron.
