Stirling Moss and Maserati 250F

The Coys International Historic Festival meeting of July 2000 at Silverstone celebrated 50 years of Formula One with a display of cars covering those 50 years and track demonstrations of some of the cars by a variety of drivers. The photograph below shows Stirling Moss leaving the pit lane on one of these demonstration runs.
Stirling Moss bought and ran his own Maserati 250F for the 1954 racing season and for the last three races of the season he received official backing from the Maserati team. After driving for Mercedes Benz in the 1955 season he joined the Maserati team for the 1956 season, during which he won the Monaco and Italian Grands Prix. His own car was chassis number 2508, but the car above was the one owned by Jose Albuquerque, chassis number 2507.
