1962 Lotus 24

This is a photograph that I took at Waterway Corner at Aintree on the Friday practice day for the British Grand Prix in July 1962.
It's Trevor Taylor in his Lotus 24 which was powered by the same 1,496cc Coventry Climax FWMV engine as the Lotus 25, but had a conventional spaceframe chassis instead of the Lotus 25's monocoque chassis. The Lotus 25 was to be run by the Lotus team and the Lotus 24 was intended to be a customer car although Trevor Taylor drove the Lotus 24 in five of the nine World Drivers' Championship races that season. He qualified in tenth place on the grid at Aintree and finished in eighth place in the race, and his only points scoring finish that season was in the Dutch Grand Prix when he finished in second place.

1972 Leda LT27

I took this photograph in the paddock at Oulton Park on practice day for the Gold Cup meeting in May 1972.
It's the 1972 Leda LT27 which was driven in the European F5000 Championship race at this meeting by Trevor Taylor but retired after 5 laps with an oil seal problem. The car is chassis number 003 and was powered by a 5 litre Chevrolet engine.

1962 Lotus 24

This is a photograph that I took at Aintree on the Friday practice day for the British Grand Prix in July 1962.

1961 Lotus 18

This was one of the competitors in the Aintree 200 race at the Liverpool circuit in April 1961.
It's the 1961 Lotus 18, one of three cars entered in the race by Team Lotus, and was driven by Trevor Taylor. The Lotus 18 was originally built in 1960 to compete in Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula Junior races and was campaigned by the Lotus team in the 1960 Grand Prix season with a 2,467cc (later 2,497cc) Coventry Climax FPF 4-cylinder inline engine. In 1961 the regulations were changed limiting engine capacity to 1½ litres, and while Team Lotus mostly used the Lotus 21 for World Championship races the Lotus 18 was still put to use in some non-Championship races. The engine used in 1961 was the 1,500cc version of the Coventry Climax FPF engine. Trevor Taylor qualified in 14th position on the grid for the Aintree 200 race, but retired after 41 laps of the 50 lap race. The other two Team Lotus cars finished in 9th and 10th places respectively in the hands of Jim Clark and Innes Ireland.

Lotus 24

This car competed in the Innes Ireland Trophy Race for Pre-1968 Grand Prix and Tasman Cars at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1997.
It's Ric Weiland's 1962 Lotus 24, a car of conventional spaceframe design that was intended to be sold to private entrants whilst the Lotus team used the new monocoque Lotus 25. In effect Jim Clark drove a Lotus 25 but his team-mate Trevor Taylor used the Lotus 24 for most of the season.

Lotus 25

The theme for the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1993 was 'British Racing Green' with a display of British cars, some of which participated in demonstration runs on the track. Here's one of the cars that took part in the demonstration runs.
It's a 1962 Lotus 25, and is here being taken out for one of the demonstration runs by Trevor Taylor who partnered Jim Clark in the Lotus team in the 1962 and 1963 seasons. Jim Clark finished second in the Drivers' World Championship in 1962 and won it the following year.
