1960 Cooper Monaco

This is a photograph that I took at the Historic Sports Car Club's Spring Historic Race Meeting at Oulton Park in May 1986.
It's the 1960 Cooper Monaco of Sid Hoole which competed in the HSCC Pre ’60 Historic Sports Car Championship race and the programme of the event says it had a 2,500cc emgine. There were three versions of the Cooper Monaco, the T49 of 1959, the T57 of 1960 and the T61 of 1961, so this should be a  T57.

1979 Lotus 80

This car took part in the Grand Prix Masters race for F1 cars from 1966-1986 at the Silverstone Classic meeting in July 2010.
It's the 1979 Lotus 80 of Sid Hoole which has a 2,993cc V8 Ford Cosworth DFV engine. The car was designed by Colin Chapman to maximise the benefits of ground effects produced by the body but it proved to be unsuccessful. Mario Andretti competed in only three Grand Prix races in the car, finishing in third place in Spain and retiring from the Monaco and French Grands Prix.

Brabham BT33

I photographed this car during the Grand Prix Masters race at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in June 2004.
It's the 1970 (though shown in the programme of the event as 1968) Brabham BT33 of Sid Hoole with a 2,993cc V8 Cosworth DFV engine, a car driven by Jack Brabham and Rolf Stommelen in the 1970 season. Jack Brabham finished in sixth place in the World Championship, winning the first race of the season in South Africa, and Rolf Stommelen eleventh. It may well be the same BT33 that I showed on 27 August 2018 that was driven by Duncan Dayton at Silverstone in 1999, and if so then it's chassis #BT33/1.

Lotus 80

The Silverstone Classic meeting in July 2010 included a race for Grand Prix Masters F1 Cars 1966-1986 and the car pictured below in the pit garage is one of the cars that took part in that race.
It's a 1979 Lotus 80 and was driven in this race by Sid Hoole. Colin Chapman had started exploring the use of ground effect in his cars with the Lotus 78 of 1977 and the Lotus 80 was an attempt to maximise the benefits that it gave. The car was introduced at the 1979 Spanish Grand Prix where Mario Andretti finished in third place, but started in only two races after that, retiring both times. In the other races that season the team ran the Lotus 79 which had given Mario Andretti the 1978 World Championship. You can read about the Lotus 80 here.
