Friday's Ferrari

I took this photograph at the RAC International Tourist Trophy race at Oulton Park in May 1965.
It’s Mike Salmon in the John Danway Racing’s 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO approaching Lodge Corner. The car is chassis 4399GT and it was rebodied in the 1964 style by Scaglietti  at the end of 1963. It finished the race in 12th position on aggregate over two heats.

Jaguar D-Type

This is a photograph I took of a car that competed in the sports car race at the Aintree 200 meeting in April 1960.
It's Mike Salmon's 1955 Jaguar D-Type, chassis #XKD504, originally a Jaguar works car but later campaigned by Ecurie Ecosse. Sotheby's related the history of XKD504 when it was offered for auction in September 2013.

Aston Martin Project 212

This car took part in the Coys of Kensington Pre-1964 GT Car race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
It's the 1961 Aston Martin Project 212, entered in the race by Hugo Investments Ltd and driven by Gary Pearson and Mike Salmon. It was created to run in the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hour race and built on a DB4 GT chassis with an inline 6-cylinder 4 litre engine based on the DB4 GT's 3.7 litre unit. Driven in that race by Graham Hill and Richie Ginther it was amongst the leaders in the early part of the race, but retired on lap 79 after a piston failure.

On 23 January 2017 I showed a photograph of the later Aston Martin Project 214 car.

Friday's Ferrari

This is a car I've featured twice before, on 18 October 2013 and 19 December 2014
This photograph was taken at the Tourist Trophy race at Oulton Park in May 1965, and it's a 1963 Ferrari 250GTO entered that day by John Danway Racing and driven by Mike Salmon. It finished the race in 12th position on aggregate over two heats and was owned at that time by Gordon Durham, the serial number being 4399GT
