Pre-War Le Mans Cars Team Race

I took this photograph during the Christie's Cup Le Mans Cars Team Race at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.
Leading here is the 1932 Invicta S Type of Bob Wood followed by the 1931 Alfa Romeo 8C Le Mans driven by Peter Hannen. Behind that seems to be the 1931 Bentley 8 litre of Keith Schellenberg with the red 1935 Aston Martin Ulster of Nick Mason on the outside.

Vauxhall Viper Special

This car competed in two scratch races at the VSCC's Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting at Oulton Park in June 2008.
It's the 1913/18 Vauxhall Viper Special of Tony Lees, and is pictured here at Britten's chicane during the first of those races. The car was built by David Biggins on a 1913 Vauxhall A-Type chassis and has a 1918 Wolseley Viper 11.8 litre V8 aero engine, which was a Hispano Suiza HS-8 unit built under licence by Wolseley Motors during World War I. The Vauxhall is being followed by the 1931 Invicta S Type of Trevor Swete and the 1935 Riley Nine 12/4 Special of Richard Brightman.

On 20 May 2013 I showed a photograph of this car in the paddock at Donington Park in 2006.

Invicta S-Type

This car took part in the MicroPose Spirit of Speed Pre-War Sports Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
It's the 1931 Invicta S-Type of Stefan Schollwöck, who shared the driving with Martin Kölnberger as the race necessitated a change of driver. Noel Macklin founded the Invicta company, production starting in 1925 with a car powered by a 2½ litre Meadows engine. The car progressed through 3 and 4½ litre engines and in 1930 the first S-Type was introduced with a 4½ litre engine, and with the rear axle mounted above the main chassis rails instead of below so that the car sits lower compared with the previous models. In all 76 examples of the Invicta S-Type were built.

On 12 March 2015 I showed a photograph of an Invicta S-Type at Silverstone in June 2004.

Invicta

This car was amongst the cars being displayed by the auctioneers Coys at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in June 2004.
It's a 1932 Invicta S type, but I can't find out anything more about the car apart from this snippet from the 2010 Le Mans Classic race......
