1950 Talbot Lago T26C

This is a photograph I took at Luffield corner during the Chopard 100-Mile Grand Prix Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1994.

It's Belgian driver François d'Huart in a 1950 Talbot Lago T26C which has a 6-cylinder inline 4,562cc unsupercharged engine and is in the yellow racing colours of Belgium. An online site about the Talbot Lago T26  says this about the car:

 

Talbot T26C-DA [110 053]: Built in 1950 using parts from '110 003' and raced for the works by Martin, Chaboud and Giraud-Cabantous in 1950 then by Rosier as a private entry in 1951. Driven by Trintignant for Ecurie Rosier in 1952, then Giraud-Cabantous 1952-53. Owned by Marceau Hauret 1955 and Houdayer (Paris) 1981. Raced from 1987-2000 by François d'Huart (Belgium) as '100 105'.

1957 Talbot Maserati

I came across this car in one of the pit garages at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1997.

It's a 1957 Talbot Maserati, one of only two cars that were built in 1956 with 2,493cc straight-6 Maserati 250F engines and entered for the Le Mans 24 Hour race that year, though neither car managed to finish the race. The cars were sold to André Dubonnet, and for the 1957 Le Mans race the cars were rebodied by Carrozzeria Campana of Modena and entered by Ecurie Dubonnet with race numbers 22 and 23. The car numbered 22 was due to be driven by Jean Blanc and Georges Burggraff but suffered mechanical problems during practice and didn't start the race. The number 23 car, due to be driven by Bruce Halford and Franco Bordoni, broke its transmission at the start and was out of the race before the leaders were round the first corner. I can find no trace of either of the cars competing in any other race. It isn't mentioned in the programme of this Silverstone event and as far as I'm aware it didn't take part in any of the races - the race it would have competed in was the Louis Vuitton 1950s Sports Car Race, and number 23 in that race was an Aston Martin DBR1. The yellow car behind this car is the 1950 Talbot Lago T26C of François d'Huart and it's possible that he was the owner of the car at that time, though I can't find any evidence that shows he was.

Talbot Lago T26C

This car competed in the Corporate Jets Historic Grand Prix Car 100-Mile race at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.

Seen here at Luffield Corner, it's the 1948 4½ litre Talbot Lago T26C of Belgian François d'Huart, a car which Louis Rosier drove in the 1948 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Originally a Talbot works car it was later raced for Écurie Rosier by Maurice Trintignant.

Talbot Lago T26C

This is a car I photographed in the paddock at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.

It's the 1948 Talbot Lago T26C of François d'Huart which took part in the Maserati UK Race for Pre-1961 Grand Prix Cars. It's finished in the yellow racing colours of Belgium and according to the programme of the event it's the car with which Louis Rosier took fourth place in the 1948 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, although  Louis Rosier was actually third in that race and in fourth place was the Talbot Lago T26C of Philippe Étancelin. On 27 September 2015 I showed a photograph of this car in the pit lane at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in 1994.
