Friday's Ferrari

I took this photograph at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992 where there was a special display of Ferraris in the paddock numbered 1 to 32, and a page in the programme of the event gave details of each of the cars. Unfortunately all that the note for number 8 says is 'California'.

It is a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, a shorter chassis version of the earlier LWB car, and has the 2,953cc Gioacchino Colombo designed V12 engine. This car is chassis #2377GT which was owned for a long time by Hollywood film star James Coburn, and between 2008 and 2010 by Chris Evans.

Friday's Ferrari

This is a car photographed in the Ferrari Owners Club parking area at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.
It's a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder, serial number 1411GT, owned at that time by Martin G Emmison. As the name suggests the car was designed mainly for the North American market.

Friday's Ferrari

This car was amongst the other spectators' cars at the Richard Seaman Memorial Trophies meeting at Oulton Park in June 1981.
It's a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder. I've gone through all the 250 GT Californias in www.barchetta.cc but I can't find a serial number for this one, although there are gaps in the histories of several of the cars.

Friday's Ferrari

This is a car photographed in the Ferrari Owners Club area at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.
It's a 1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder, and its serial number is 3077GT. The car was originally red then repainted yellow in 1979, and in 1992 was owned by Stephen Pilkington. In 1998 it was repainted again, this time silver grey.

I've featured the Ferrari 250GT California previously, on 8 February 2013.

Friday's Ferrari

Today's car is the Ferrari 250GT California Spyder. As the name suggests, it was built for the North American market.
This car is pictured at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999, although it's not shown in the programme as being entered in any of the races.

Note April 2015: This car is serial number 2383GT.
