1924 Bugatti T35B

This is a photograph I took in the paddock at the Vintage Sports Car Club's Richard Seaman Memorial Trophies meeting at Oulton Park in June 1961.

As usual with these older photographs any note I made about it has long ago disappeared but it's a Bugatti, and although you can't read the number on the tail of the car the only Bugatti listed in the programme that it seems to match is the number 52 on John Horton's 1924 Bugatti T35B. The programme says that it's a 2 litre car which would have the 8-cylinder inline 1,992cc engine.

1927 Bugatti Type 35B

This was one of the competitors in the Ten Lap Scratch Race in Memory of Sir Henry Seagrave for Vintage Cars at the Vintage Sports Car Club's meeting at Oulton Park in August 1996.

It's Julian Majzub in his 1927 Bugatti Type 35B which has the 8-cylinder inline 2,262cc engine. The Type 35 was the most successful of the pre-war Bugattis and the about 37 examples of the Type 35B were produced in the mid to late 1920s.

1926 Bugatti Type 35B

I took this photograph at Lodge Corner during the Richard Seaman Memorial Vintage Trophy Race at the Vintage Sports Car Club's meeting at Oulton Park in June 1981.

It's Hamish Moffatt in Frank Wall's 1926 Bugatti Type 35B and has the 8-cylinder inline 2,262cc supercharged engine. A note in the programme of the event says this about the car:

'Last year's winner, Hamish Moffatt, again drives Frank Wall's Type 35B Bugatti, which was fitted with a single seater body after the last war by Peter Stubberfield who was very successful with it in hill climbs.'

VSCC Racing

Race number 2 at the Vintage Sports Car Club's Hawthorn Memorial Trophies race meeting at Oulton Park in July 2015 had the grand title of 'Premier Cru Racing for Pre-1941 Standard and Modified Racing Cars - 20 Mins. Incorporating the Bruce Spollon Memorial, Ten Tenths Vintage Restorations Pre-War Continental Trophies'. Only six cars competed in that race, and I photographed each of them during the race at Druids Corner.
