1970 BRM P153

I took this photograph in the paddock at Oulton Park during practice for the Gold Cup meeting in May 1972.
It's the 1970 BRM P153, chassis 153/03, of Vern Schuppan who qualified the car in sixth position on the grid and ended the race in fifth place. The BRM P153 was designed by Tony Southgate and had BRM's own 2,998cc V12 engine. Its only victory was in the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix driven by Pedro Rodriguez.

Donington Park Museum

This is a photograph that I took at the Donington Park Museum in September 2014.
I don’t remember if there was an explanation for the ‘John Player Grand Prix’ sign but the British Grands Prix of 1972 to 1978 and 1981 to 1985 were sponsored by the John Player conglomerate, though most of the cars in this picture are from earlier or later years or not F1 cars. On the extreme left is the BRM P153 with which Pedro Rodriguez competed in the 1970 F1 season and next to that is a 1974 Trojan T101 Formula 5000 car. The car in the middle is a Stewart SF1 as driven by Rubens Barrichello and Jan Magnussen in the 1997 season and next to that is a 1993 Lola T330 Formula 5000 car. The car on the extreme right is a 1976 Hesketh 308D, mainly campaigned that season by Harald Ertl.

1970 BRM P153

This is one of the cars I photographed in the Donington Park museum in October 1989.
It's a BRM P153 which was designed by Tony Southgate and had BRM's own 2,998cc V12 engine. Its only victory was in the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix driven by Pedro Rodriguez. Behind it is a BRM P261 which was driven in the 1964 season by Graham Hill and Richie Ginther, and in the 1965 season by Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart.

1970 BRM P153

The 50th Anniversary of the BRM was marked at the Coys International  Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999 by a display of many of the cars and this was one of the cars in the display.
It's a BRM P153 which was designed by Tony Southgate and had BRM's own 2,998cc V12 engine. The P153 was campaigned by the BRM team from 1970 to 1972, but its only victory was in the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix driven by Pedro Rodriguez. The information board behind the car appears to say that it is chassis P153/07.

1970 BRM P153

This car is leaving the pit lane during the qualifying session for the Silverstone International Trophy Race for Pre 1978 Grand Prix Cars at the Silverstone Historic Festival meeting in August 2001.
It's Bobby Bell in the 1970 BRM P153, chassis P153/04 that was raced by Jackie Oliver in the 1970 racing season. The car was designed by Tony Southgate, was powered by the 2,9982cc BRM P142 V12 engine, and after the 1970 season it competed in a variety of races until 1981. During the last five years of that period it was owned by Bell & Colvill and driven by Bobby Bell who drove it at this Silverstone meeting.

BRM P153

The Silverstone Historic Festival of 2001 was a 3-day event, from Saturday 25th August to the Bank Holiday Monday on the 27th. The penultimate race on the Monday was the Silverstone International Trophy Race for Pre-1978 Grand Prix Cars, and the car pictured below took part in that race.
It's the 1970 3 litre V12 BRM P153 of Bobby Bell, chassis number P153/04. On 21 February 2015 I showed a photograph of Mike Littlewood's BRM P153 at the Donington Park SeeRed meeting of September 2006.
