Pit Lane Activity

The cars here are moving out of the pit lane at the start of the qualifying session for the Chopard HGPCA 100-Mile Grand Prix Car Race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1994.
Leading the exodus are the Maserati 250F's of Jeremy Agace and Thomas Bscher. Jeremy Agace's car (number 2) is a 1954 car with a 6-cylinder inline 2,490cc engine and is chassis #2507/1. Thomas Bscher's car (number 4) is a 1957 Maserati 250F V12, a car built with a 2,491cc V12 engine instead of the 250F's usual 6-cylinder inline 2,490 unit. It's chassis #2531, one of only 2 cars specifically built to take the V12 engine and the only one to take part in a World Championship race. It was entered for the 1957 Italian Grand Prix and driven by Jean Behra, but retired towards the end of the race with overheating problems.

Maserati 250F

The Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1993 featured a celebration of British Racing Green, with a display of a large number of British racing cars and the appearance of several of the drivers who had raced those cars in period. This is one of those who took part in track demonstrations during the meeting.
This is Roy Salvadori preparing to join one of the track demonstrations in the ex-Gilby Engineering Company's 1954 Maserati 250F, chassis #2507/2 that he drove in the 1955 and 1956 seasons. The car had been damaged in a crash at Oulton Park in August 1954 and given a new chassis at the Maserati facory, retaining the original chassis number 2507.

On 14 August 2016 I showed two photographs that I had taken of this car at Donington Park in 2005.

Maserati 250F

This photograph was taken at McLeans Corner during the HGPCA Race for Pre-1961 Grand Prix Cars at the HGPCA's International Historic Grand Prix meeting at Donington Park in May 2004.
Two Maserati 250Fs leading this group. On the left is Burkhard von Schenk in his 1956 model #2521 and on the right José Albuquerque in a 1955 car, #2507. Both cars have the 2½ litre Maserati straight-6 engine.

Maserati 250F

This is one of about a dozen Maserati 250Fs that were present at the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2005.
It's the ex-Gilby Engineering Company's Maserati 250F, with the replacement chassis 2507/2 given to the car after an accident at the Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park in 1954. The programme of the Donington Park SeeRed meeting had brief notes about all the 250Fs that Maserati built, and all the replicas subsequently produced by Cameron Millar. The note about 2507/2 said this:
2507
Second car with 2507 number when delivered back to Gilby Engineering. Driven by Salvadori, Jim Russell and Ivor Bueb. Eventually ended up with Portuguese collector in the 1960s until its return to UK and historic racing with the late Amschel Rothschild. Now in Germany with Klaus Edel.

Stirling Moss and Maserati 250F

The Coys International Historic Festival meeting of July 2000 at Silverstone celebrated 50 years of Formula One with a display of cars covering those 50 years and track demonstrations of some of the cars by a variety of drivers. The photograph below shows Stirling Moss leaving the pit lane on one of these demonstration runs.
Stirling Moss bought and ran his own Maserati 250F for the 1954 racing season and for the last three races of the season he received official backing from the Maserati team. After driving for Mercedes Benz in the 1955 season he joined the Maserati team for the 1956 season, during which he won the Monaco and Italian Grands Prix. His own car was chassis number 2508, but the car above was the one owned by Jose Albuquerque, chassis number 2507.
