1953 Triumph Mayflower

I took these photographs at a classic car show in Hyde, Cheshire, in October 2022.
It’s a 1953 Triumph Mayflower which was built by the Standard Motor Company and was in production from 1949 to 1953.
Nicknamed the 'Razor Edge' like its big brother the Triumph Renown, it had a 4-cylinder inline side-valve 1,247cc engine.
It was built in Coventry and  was also assembled in Port Melbourne, Australia and Nyköping, Sweden.

Merry Christmas!

We usually go to Guernsey just before Christmas every year to see our eldest son and his family and many of the pillar boxes, particularly in St Peter Port, have knitted toppers. This is one that I photographed near the Market Square in December 2022:

2017 McLaren 570GT

It's a 2017 McLaren 570GT, a more street-friendly version of the 570S with softer suspension settings and improved sound insulation.

One of the routes on the Manchester Metrolink system is from Ashton-under-Lyne to Eccles with a spur at Salford Quays going to Media City. I understand that because of track maintenance work the Eccles service currently terminates at Deansgate-Castlefield. Here are two photographs I took on a recent evening of trams going in both directions calling at Media City.
This was the tram from Eccles to Deansgate-Castlefield at Media City.

Five minutes later this was the tram from Deansgate-Castlefield to Eccles.

2021 Polestar

I saw this car recently which I did not recognise at the GMEV charging point at Salford Quays and there appears to be nothing on the car to identify it.
The DVLA record shows that it's a 2021 Polestar and looking closely at the photograph I can see that it says 'Polestar Automotive UK Limited' at the bottom of the number plate. Polestar is apparently a sub-brand of the Volvo company and the cars are produced at the Luqiao CMA Super Factory in Luqiao, China.

Salford Quays

These are a few photographs I took in the early evening around Salford Quays on 13 October.
This is an office block on the corner of Central Bay opposite the Salford Watersports Centre.

A Manchester Metrolink tram pulling away from the Wharfside stop and on its way to the Trafford Centre.

A view of Media City and the Millenium Bridge from the opposite side of the Quays.

Central Bay from the side of the Salford Watersports Centre on the right. There's usually a large number of swans and other waterfowl in this area.

Reflections of La Pinta, an Amsterdam clipper that formerly worked as a grain transporter on the Rhine before coming to Salford Quays where it's permanently moored and is apparently a floating furniture shop. Behind it is the former luxury yacht Jacamar which now appears to offer luxury airbnb accommodation.

It's a 2000 Jaguar S-Type with a 2,967cc V6 engine, nearly 300,000 of which were produced between 1999 and 2007.

The car displays 'ST Racing' markers, but I've been unable to find any concern with that name.

1972 Triumph Stag

Walking for my morning paper one day recently I was passed by this car which then pulled into the local Shell filling station.
It's a 1972 Triumph Stag, over 25,000 of which were produced between 1970 and 1977.
The car is powered by the then new Triumph 2,997cc V8 engine.
All the Triumph Stags were convertibles, and to meet American safety standards they were fitted with a roll-bar behind the seats which was connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. There was also a removable hardtop available which became a standard fitment for the later cars.
