This is a photograph I took at the Donington
Park Museum in September 2014.
Walter Wolf was
a Canadian who became a Formula One constructor in 1976 by buying the assets of
the Hesketh team when it withdrew from F1. The first car designed and built by
the team led by Harvey Postlethwaite was WR1 which, driven by Jody Scheckter,
won its first race in Argentina then went on to win the Monaco and Canadian
Grands Prix, finishing second to Niki Lauda in the Drivers' World Championship
and fourth in the World Constructors' Championship. It was powered by the Ford
Cosworth DFV 2,993cc V8 engine. This is the second car built, WR2 which Jody
Scheckter drove in three races in 1977, finishing in third place in the Spanish
Grand Prix, second place in the German Grand Prix, then another third place in
the Dutch Grand Prix.
