This is a photograph that I took at the
roundabout that at one time stood at the junction of the A6 and Cross Lane in
Pendleton of one of the cars that taking part in the Lancashire Automobile
Club's Manchester to Blackpool Veteran and Vintage Car Run in June 1965.
It’s the 1900 De Dion Voiturette of Jack
Twyford and the programme of the event had this note about the vehicle:
'4. 1900 De Dion Voiturette
A rare example of the rear-engined carriage
produced by this famous French firm, which flourished around the turn of the
century. By the end of 1901 the makers had adopted the front-engined design,
specimens of which survive in surprising numbers.'
The DVLA record shows that the registration
number CF 65 is now on a 2018 Bentley.
