This car took part in the Maserati UK Race for Pre 1952 Grand Prix Cars at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 2000.
It's Simon Hope's 1951 Pierce MG, a car created in South Africa by Harry Pierce to compete in Formula 2 racing. The original car had a 1,250cc XPAG engine as was used in the MG TB, TC, TD and early TF models, but the programme at this Silverstone event quotes the engine capacity as 1,466cc, the same as the XPEG engine that powered the later TF models from mid-1954. The limit for Formula 2 racing was 1,500cc.
