Lotus 15

I took this photograph at the Aston Martin Owners Club's Autumn Historic Car Races meeting at Oulton Park in September 1993.
It's Robert Brooks' 1959 1,960cc Lotus 15, a development of the smaller Lotus Eleven and designed to accommodate engines up to 2½ litres rather than the 1½ litres of the earlier car. It was produced from 1958 to 1960 but wasn't successful in endurance races, failing to finish the Le Mans 24 Hour race in both 1958 and 1959.

  1. Hi Dave, not sure if this blog is still active but the photos you've posted are actually my father. He loved the car and raced it in the late 80's for several years in the UK and Europe and was then sold by my mother in 1995 after my father passed away. The car is actually for sale at the moment but has been totally rebuild so looks a little different. Check it out at https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/18267/lot/637/?category=list If only I had a spare 350k I'd love to buy it back again (I think my mother sold it for around 40k!!!!!!) Great to see the photos will keep an eye out for future posts. Cheers on Lotus 15

  2. Thanks for your comments Mr Walker(?). For some reason it didn't appear on the post but came up on the list of comments in the statistics and I've copied it from there onto the post.
