Aston Martin DB3

1995 was the Diamond Jubilee of the Aston Martin Owners Club and the club featured a display of their models at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July of that year. This is one of the cars that I photographed there.
It's a 1953 Aston Martin DB3, and though it's not listed in the programme of the event it appears to be chassis number DB3/6. The first 5 chassis to be produced were for the works racing team and chassis 6 was the first customer car.
The first owner was Robert Dickson, who in 1953 drove it to 12th place in the British Empire Trophy race in the Isle of Man, and with Desmond Titterington to 5th place in the Tourist Trophy race in Dundrod. Bob Dennis then acquired the car and appeared in races at Goodwood and Aintree in 1954 and 1955, then entered the car in various British events in 1956 at which the car was driven by Geoff Richardson.
After undergoing a couple of changes of bodywork by subsequent owners it was returned to its original specification in 1992.
