This is a car I photographed at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
It's Wolfgang Wegner-Bscher's 1949 Veritas Meteor Streamliner, and although it looks like a sports car it's a streamlined Formula 2 car.
You can see better here the central driving position of the car. The car was originally purchased by Karl Kling who had it fitted with the streamlined body by the coachwork company Hebmüller instead of the standard open-wheeled body.
During the 1950 season Karl Kling won the Solituderennen at the Solitudering and the Grenzlandringrennen at the Grenzlandring. in this car.

Here's Wolfgang Wegner-Bscher leaving the pit lane during a practice session. You can read about the Veritas car in this 8w.forix.com article.
