Friday's Ferrari

Ferrari uses the Corse Clienti Ferrari Racing Days meetings at various circuits to allow a group of specially selected customers to test limited edition cars developed exclusively for the track and to provide feedback on the performance of the cars to Corse Clienti engineers, thus helping Ferrari to develop its cars for the future. The Ferrari Racing Days meeting at Silverstone in September 2017 included a series of test sessions involving the Ferrari FXX-K, the 'K' referring to the KERS kinetic energy recovery system with which the car is equipped. Here's one of the cars pictured at Club Corner during one of the sessions.
This is Jean Claude Saada from the USA in his Ferrari FXX-K, which is based on the LaFerrari. The car is chassis no. 212002 and has a 6,262cc V12 engine that develops 848 hp, to which the 140kW electric motor adds 188 hp.

Riley RMF

This was one of the participants in a Vintage and Historic Vehicle Display & Run organised by the Saddleworth Museum in June 1988.
It’s a 1950s Riley RM - I'm not a Riley RM expert, but I think it may be an RMF. The DVLA record says that the vehicle details could not be found. If it is an RMF it should have a 4-cylinder inline 2,443cc engine. Production of the Riley RMF ended in 1953 but the number plate this one displays is from 1963.

1931 Invicta Low Chassis S-Type

This car competed in the Pre-War Team Challenge race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2017.
It's the 1931 Invicta Low Chassis S-Type of Trevor Swete and has a 6-cylinder inline 4,467cc Meadows engine. The Invicta Company was founded by Noel Macklin and Oliver Lyle and produced cars from 1925 to 1935, and the company was wound-up in 1938. It is estimated that around 1,000 Invictas were produced in that time, and Trevor Swete's car is chassis #S79.

1955 Lancia D50

The Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 2000 celebrated 50 years of Formula One, the World Drivers' Championship having started in 1950, and the first race of that Championship was run at Silverstone on 13th May of that year. At the July 2000 meeting at Silverstone there was a representative display of cars covering that 50 year period, and the car below was one of those taking part.
It's a re-creation of the Lancia D50 that competed in the Championship in 1954 and 1955 and It has a reproduction chassis with an original offset 2,488cc V8 engine and transmission salvaged from Enzo Ferrari's 'scrapyard'. This car was owned by Robin Lodge, and was entered in the Maserati UK Race for Pre 1961 Grand Prix Cars, but Robin Lodge had taken the precaution of also entering his 1959 Ferrari 246 Dino for that race, both numbered 42, in case the Lancia was not allowed to take part because of a doubt about its eligibility. In the end the car was allowed to race and was driven by Robin Lodge - the Ferrari also  took part in the race, renumbered as 54 and was driven by Willie Green.

Citroën 11 Cabriolet

I photographed this car at the Northern Classic Car Show at Belle Vue, Manchester in September 1994.
It's a Citroën 11 CV Cabriolet, a car that was produced from 1934 to 1957 with five different engine sizes during that period. It was succeeded in 1957 by the ID19.

1954 BRM P30

This is a photograph that I took in the Donington Park Museum in October 1989.
It's the 1954 BRM P30, V16 Mk2 No2, alternatively known as V16/05. This car competed in Formula Libre races for a few years, and the only time I saw one in competitive action was in the Formula Libre race at the 1955 Aintree 200 meeting when Peter Collins won the race in this car. The Mk2 is a shortened and lighter version of the original V16 BRM P15 but has the same 1,496cc V16 supercharged engine which was claimed to produce 600bhp at 12,000rpm.
