Minardi

Founded in 1979 by Giancarlo Minardi, the Minardi competed in the Formula One World Championship from 1985 till 2005 and you can read the story of the Minardi team here. Giancarlo Minardi sold the team in 2001 and it eventually became what is currently Toro Rosso, half of Red Bull's four-car team. One of the original Minardi F1-185 cars took part in the Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship in 2006 and the two photographs below were taken at the Donington Park SeeRed meeting in September 2006. Other cars in this Championship I've previously shown are Arrows, Brabham, Lotus and McLaren.

Brabham

Two Brabhams took part in the Thoroughbred Grand Prix Championship race in the SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2006 and here are photographs of both cars.

This is the Brabham BT49C driven in the 1981 season by Nelson Piquet and Hector Rebaque, Piquet winning the World Drivers Championship and Rebaque finishing in tenth place. In the Constructors Championship Brabham finished in second place to the Williams team.

Here is the car at Redgate Corner during the Saturday qualifying session driven by Joaquin Folch followed by the 1979 Arrows A1 driven by Rowland Kinch.

This is the other Brabham car in the race, the BT34 'Lobster Claw', again at Redgate Corner and driven by Ean Pugh. The car, designed by Ron Tauranac, was driven with no great success in the 1971 World Championship by Graham Hill who finished in a lowly twenty first position with only two points.

Friday's Ferrari

The SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2006 included a demonstration run by a few F1 cars. I can't remember how many cars took part but one that did was the Ferrari F93A of Paul Osborn. The photograph below shows it in the pit garage without any wheels being readied for its run.
