1957 Porsche 356A

This car competed in the Guards Trophy GTSR race at the HSCC's Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park in August 2008.

It's the 1957 Porsche 356A driven by Anthony Childs and Chris Overton in the 40 minute long race, and has an air-cooled 4-cylinder 1582cc boxer engine.

This car was amongst the vehicles displayed at the Porsche Club of Great Britain's area in the paddock at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1993.

This car was one of many that were displayed at the various car club sites at the Christie's International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1992.

It's a 1958 Porsche 356A, with a 1,588cc twin overhead cam flat-4 engine. 21,045 of these cars were produced between 1955 and 1959.

This car took part in the HSCC Pre '60 Historic Sports Car Championship race at the Historic Sports Car Club's Spring Historic Race Meeting at Oulton Park in May 1986.

It's the Porsche 356A of Tony Childs, and is a 1957 car with a 1582cc engine. Behind it is the 1957 Lister Jaguar of Tim Cairns. On 9 March 2016 I showed photographs of a 1958 Porsche 356A at a 2012 meeting at Oulton Park.

The Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park in August 2012 included the 45 minute HSCC Guards Trophy Race for GT Cars and the photographs below are of two of the participating cars.

 This is a 1958 Porsche 356A, driven in the race by Steve Wright and Ian Clark.

The Porsche 911 succeeded the 356 in 1963 and is still is production, and you can see the family resemblance in this side view of the 356.

When I walked through the paddock later there was a 911 alongside the 356, Philip Basil's 1965 model which also took part in the same race.
