Riley v. Aston Martin

This photograph was taken at Luffield Corner during the VSCC Bill Phillips Trophy Race at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in June 2004.

The red car on the left is Pete Candy's 1936 Riley Falcon Special, which he named 'TheRat', and has a 4-cylinder 1,496cc Riley 12/4 engine. On the right is David Freeman's 1936 Aston Martin Speed Model, which the programme of the event says has a 1,970cc engine, though the Speed Models were built with 4-cylinder 1,950cc units. The DVLA record says that the current capacity is 2,107cc.

ERA

I took this photograph at Redgate Corner during the VSCC Historic Seaman Trophy race at the VSCC's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in September 2007.

The 1,980cc supercharged 1936 ERA R7B of Paul Mullins is leading the 1,500cc supercharged 1936 ERA R10B of Paddins Dowling. Following are the 1,492cc supercharged 1938 Maserati 6CM (#1556) of Sean Danaher and the 1,496cc supercharged 1936 Riley Falcon of Pete Candy.

Cooper Bristol

This car took part in the Hawthorn Memorial Trophy race at the Hawthorn Memorial Trophies Race Meeting organised by the VSCC at Oulton Park in June 2008.

It's a 1952 Cooper Bristol MkI - later known as the T20 - and was driven at this meeting by the owner Barry Wood.

Ecurie Ecosse are best known for their efforts in sports car racing, particularly their winning performances with Jaguar D-Types at Le Mans in 1956 and 1957, but they took part in the British Grand Prix from 1952 to 1954 with two cars, including this Cooper Bristol which was driven in the 1952 British Grand Prix by the founder of Ecurie Ecosse, David Murray.
