1968 Ford F3L

This car took part in the World Sports Cars Masters race at the Silverstone Classic meeting at Silverstone in July 2010.

It's the 1968 Ford F3L (also known as a Ford P68) of John Young  which was designed by Len Bailey and built by Alan Mann Racing for them to compete in the Group 6 prototype class in the 1968 season. The car has a 2,993cc V8 Ford Cosworth DFV engine but proved to be very unreliable, not finishing in any of the races in which it competed in 1968.

Chevrolet Corvette

This car took part in the RAC Tourist Trophy Race for Historic Cars at the Silverstone Classic meeting of July 2010.

It's the 1960 Chevrolet Corvette C1 driven in the hour long race by Bernie Chodosh and John Young. According to the programme of the event it had a 4,700cc engine, which probably means that it was the 283 cu in small-block V8 which actually equates to 4,638cc. The car warranted a note in the programme on the page about the TT race: 'Finally, don't look for it, you will hear it first! Keep an ear open for the enthusiastically driven Corvette of Bernie Chodosh.'

Chevrolet

On 11th Sept 2013 I showed some photographs of a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette at the HSCC Summer Race meeting at Oulton Park on 4th July 1992. Here are photographs of three other Chevrolets at that meeting, two of which (at least) took part in the HSCC Independance Day race.

This is the 1969 Stingray of Hal Danby and is the car which is shown in the background, apparently abandoned at the trackside, in one of the photographs on the earlier post.

This is a 1964 Chevrolet Malibu entered by Norman Abbott Racing and driven in the race by John Young

A 1963 Corvette Stingray (number 39) is shown in the programme of the event entered by Hal Danby and driven in the race by Tim Wright and this may be that car before the race number was applied.
