Frazer Nash Le Mans Coupe

It's always interesting walking round the various car club displays at historic race meetings, and here's a photograph I took at the Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in August 2001.

The Frazer Nash Car Club displayed various vehicles, including this 1954 Frazer Nash Le Mans Coupe. Its chassis number is 421/200/197 and it was delivered to its first owner, Anthony Twentyman, in August 1954. It was Frazer Nash's 1954 Earls Court Motor Show car and has the BMW derived Bristol 2 litre engine, serial number 100A/319. There a potted history and several photographs of the car in this portfolio by Pendine Historic Cars Limited when they offered the car for sale a few years back.

The car behind it is the 1953 Frazer Nash Targa Florio that I featured on 19 September 2015.

Frazer Nash

These two cars took part in the 2 hour long VSCC Team Relay Race for Pre-war Sports Cars at the Vintage Sports Car Club's SeeRed meeting at Donington Park in May 2011.

PG 7028 is the 1930 Frazer Nash Interceptor of Richard Parsons. The Interceptor was produced between 1930 and 1932 and was chain driven, with either an Anzani side-valve, or a Meadows overhead-valve engine both of which were 4-cylinder 1,496cc units. This car was previously owned by Vaughan Skirrow, who was Captain of the Frazer Nash Car Club from 1966 to 1969.

This car is the 1928 Frazer Nash Super Sports of Frederic Wakeman. The Super Sports was produced from 1924 to 1929 and was again a chain driven car with either the 1,496cc Anzani engine or a Power-Plus 4-cylinder engine of the same capacity.

The Frazer Nash Car Club caters for all owners of (or anyone with an interest in) Frazer Nash cars and the website has details of the chain driven cars, and all the others produced by Frazer Nash.

Frazer Nash Fast Tourer

This car was one of the entrants in the VSCC Bill Phillips Trophy Race at the Silverstone Historic Tribute meeting in June 2004.

Frazer Nash Cabriolet

I saw this car at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999 amongst the Frazer Nash Car Club vehicles. I didn't recognise the car as one of the standard Frazer Nash models and I see from the Frazer Nash Postwar Production record that the car is a Cabriolet model, originally delivered to an Alan L Marshall in November 1950. The chassis number is 421/100/116 and it's described as a 'Special long wheelbase car. Fritz Fiedler's "dream car".' Fritz Fiedler joined Frazer Nash from BMW in 1947 and was responsible for the development of the post-war Frazer Nash before returning to BMW 3 years later. The Cabriolet has apparently got a 1971cc Bristol engine.

Frazer Nash

It's always interesting at the historic and classic car meetings to have a walk round the areas set aside for the different owners clubs members' cars. These three photographs are from the parking area of the Frazer Nash Car Club at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1995. There's another site I've found here which records Frazer Nash post-war production with details of each vehicle, from where I've got the bits of information underneath each of the photographs.

This is a 1952 Targa Florio, originally owned by Briggs Cunningham, which took part in the 1953 Sebring 12-hour race.

This is a later Targa Florio, a 1953 model, and the first owner was someone called Patel from Pakistan.

This is a 1954 Sebring model, originally owned by a Col. O'Hara Moore which competed in a sports car race at Silverstone in 1954 and in the Dundrod TT of that year.
