Maserati A6GCS

This is a photograph taken by my brother Peter at the Daily Herald International Trophy Race meeting at Oulton Park in August 1955.
It's Maserati A6GCS driven by Azzurro Manzini which has the 1,978cc straight-6 engine designed by Gioacchino Columbo and the body by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, but he failed to finish the race. I can’t find the chassis number in the barchetta Maserati register.

Ivor Bueb

I took this photograph at the Daily Herald International Trophy meeting at Oulton Park in August 1956.
It's Ivor Bueb who drove an Ecurie Demi-Litre 1,098cc Cooper T39 Climax in the race. He started his racing career in 1953 with a 500cc Cooper Formula 3 car and graduated into sports car racing where he succeeded in winning the Le Mans 24 Hour race twice, both times in a Jaguar D-Type - in a works car with Mike Hawthorn in 1955 and sharing an Ecurie Ecosse car with Ron Flockhart in 1957. He participated in six Grand Prix races but scored no Championship points, and sadly died in a crash at a Formula 2 race at Clermont-Ferrand in 1959 when driving a BRP Cooper Borgward.

1953 Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM

My brother took this photograph at the Daily Herald International Trophy meeting at Oulton Park in August 1955.
It's Joakim Bonnier's 1953 Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM, chassis #0125, with a 6-cylinder inline 3,495cc engine. The number 36 next to it is Gunnar Carlsson's 1954 Ferrari 750 Monza chassis #0470MD. The cars with numbers 20 and 18 in the background are the Lister Bristols of Ken Wharton and Archie Scott Brown, and immediately behind the Alfa Romeo is what looks like Mike Anthony's Lotus Mk X.

Car number 30 is Masten Gregory's Ferrari 750S Monza, driven by Masten Gregory in the race and is serial number 0554M. This car finished fourth in the race.

Aston Martin DB3S

This is another of those old 1950s photographs, this time from the Daily Herald International Trophy meeting at Oulton Park on 18 August 1956.
Aston Martin entered a team of four of the DB3S models and No. 8 is the car with which Stirling Moss won the race, here being topped-up with fuel prior to the race. Immediately behind it (No. 10) is Reg Parnell's car which finished third, and beyond that No. 12 is the car with which Roy Salvadori finished fourth. To the right, seen through the bars of the gate is the No. 14 car of Tony Brooks which finished in second place. The car driven by Stirling Moss was chassis number DB3S/9, Parnell's was DB3S/7, Salvadori's DB3S/6, and that of Tony Brooks DB3S/8.
