This car competed in the Coys of Kensington 80th Anniversary Trophy for Pre-1972 Le Mans Cars race at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1999.
This is the 1966 Porsche 906, also known as the Carrera 6, of Irvine Laidlaw and was driven in the race by Andrew Kirkaldy. The 906 has a flat-6 1,991cc engine and was introduced by Porsche in 1966 to replace the Porsche 904 which had a flat-4 1,966cc engine. The extra power of the new car was needed to compete with the Ferrari Dino 206 SP in the 2 litre class of racing.
I've shown photographs previously of the Porsche 906 on 24 February 2015, 26 October 2015 and 2 May 2017.
